Located on a 37-acre wooded campus in the city of Smyrna, GA on the outskirts of Atlanta, Ridgeview Institute provides a safe, caring environment with Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Counselors, Activity Therapists and Mental Health Technicians. Treatment services include inpatient and outpatient services and aftercare.

The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE (RN) are as follows but not limited to the duties listed below:

Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patients, develop and implement nursing care plans, maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures
Ensure patient’s status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information gathered is documented. Notify physician of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR/ First Aid certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior including restraint and seclusion policies, CPI, within 90 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.
